Backcountry Discovery Routes® (BDR®) is set to launch its 23rd route—the Montana BDR (MTBDR)—on February 7th, 2026. As the final Western state in the BDR network, Montana is poised to become one of our most iconic and widely ridden routes, drawing thousands of adventure and dual-sport motorcyclists each year to the state’s remote roads and rural communities.
This route, like all BDRs, is made possible through the collective support of riders, fans, and our industry partners. The BDR network is a testament to what our community can build together, creating unforgettable riding experiences for all to enjoy.
The forthcoming Montana BDR will take riders on an incredible journey through more than 13 mountain ranges, covering about 1000 miles across the state. With epic backroads, historic towns, and stunning landscapes, this route has something for every adventure rider and traveler. As the final piece of the western US BDR network, the MTBDR might be the most anticipated route we’ve ever made, and we can’t wait to share it with the adventure community in early 2026.
